PRESIDENT’S CORNER:

Here it is October already and if you haven't been in the club lately, you have missed some of the best events in recent club history!

The “Castaway Cruise” which was almost sold out, and an absolute great time, was the largest fund raiser ever. Thanks to Jim Robinson and Tom Pitetti who put it all together.

The Ladies Day Tournament had 18 boats and the absolute finest BBQ crafted by Fuzzy, Sylvia and Rich Manero.

The Special Kids Fish for Fun Tournament ended up being a door buster which was perfectly orchestrated by Rookie. Close to 50 boats participated with over 200 happy anglers who were very anxious to tell you all about the fish they caught! It was great to see so many club members and friends get involved.

There is one more tournament for the year but several club get togethers are on the calendar. Please try to show up, take part and enjoy your club!

As always, tight lines and calm seas.

Congratulations to New Propritary Member: Humphrey Baker

There is room for a few more good members and it’s a great time to introduce people to the club. The member application is now online in the membership section of our website, and applications will continue to be available at the club. Members joining over the remainder of 2007 will be valid through 2008.

R U READY 4 IT?  www.MarlinandTuna.com  It’s time to take this show online! In 2008 this newsletter will be distributed by email so please be sure that we have your current email address. The 2008 dues membership notice will have a place to update your email address. Emails will come from TheClub@marlinandtuna.com, adding that to your address book may keep us out of your Spam Filter. Not only will this change from mail to email save a few trees, it’s also good for the budget since it saves time and postage. BTW If you’re still living with the GEICO Cavemen and don’t have email or a ‘puter, we’ll have some copies of the newsletter at the club.

Our club website is fast becoming the central point of contact for club information, point standings, tournaments, photos, videos, links to weather, sea temps and other great sites. Bookmark the site and send in your pictures from 2007 so we have them in our annual album.

2008 Committees are forming now! The board has done a fine job of keeping the wheels turning but we need your help to take to the next level. Please consider bringing your talents to one of the following committees:

Tournament Committee: Eldie does a great job, but...he’s getting shorter and old, so he needs our help. Join the committee to help out with planning, captain’s meetings, or take over and run a whole tournament! Call Eldie if you’re interested.

Public Relations Committee: Have a talent for reporting or photography? Write the next club press release for the regional papers! Interested in the internet? Dive into our website! Want to save the world? Lead the clubs support of sport fishing initiatives! Contact Michael Lawrence for more information.

Tournament BBQ’s: Extra hands are always greatly appreciated for club BBQ’s since they require a lot of “behind the scenes” work. Please contact Fuzzy or Sylvia if you can help out in anyway for the 2008 season.

 From the Tournament Director:

I would like to congratulate the crews of the Beast, Miss Andrea, Island Girl and The Judge on their major tournament wins. That just goes to show you that our club has some of the best damn fishermen around! Way to go, guys!

The OCMC vs CMMTC Challenge Cup Tournament had the most participation ever with 18 boats from Cape May! That’s the good part, the bad part is that Ocean City kicked our butts!

I would like to form a tournament committee for 2008, to bring new ideas to get more participation in club tournaments.

I am looking forward to handing out club trophies and awards to smiling faces at the club’s annual banquet. Be there!

The next tournament is the Fall Striper Tournament. The Captain’s meeting is 11/16 at 8 pm where we will discuss the fishing time.

I’m proud to be a part of this club and you should be too.
