Cape May Marlin & Tuna Club
Challenge Cup

The Challenge Cup was started in 1979 between Ocean City Marlin Club and Cape May Marlin and Tuna Club by Charlie Kratz from OCMC and Scott Smith from CMM&TC

The winners of the tournament thru the years are as follows <right>, some years are missing, we have to do a little research. We did have a few down years ( 9-11-01 ) was cancelled. Missing years 93-94-98-99.   After a club wins three years in a row the cup is retired and the losing club buys a new Challenge Cup

Win or lose this is a great event, held in Ocean City each year. If you have the opportunity to attend it's well worth the trip.

In 2006 SUPERCREW <below left> scored big for Cape May, but in the end the team was a few points short of victory and tournament directory Eldon Poole <on knees below-right> surrendered the cup to Ocean City.

2007 brought on another good showing by Cape May but it wasn't enough to win.

With retirement of the cup on the line, Cape May rallied in 2008 for what may have been one of the best white marlin bites on record. The team was down by 3 whites and 2 blues after day 1. On day 2 the club came back strong with many boats in the double digits for releases. Covert Mission release 18 that day to win the top boat and help drive the win for Cape May.
